a. Awareness Building & Animation Activities:
It has been an effort of Asha Niketan Welfare Centre to increase
the awareness among people specially the women, men, youth and
children of ST, SC and OBCs. We have succeeded in giving this
awareness partially to them and motivated them to form groups.
Such groups in our target area will go forth with a focus of
assignments and empowerment to become a reality. Through the
efforts of Asha Niketan Welfare Centre 560 Self Helf Groups groups
out of which 397 groups are women SHGs, rest all are men and youth
groups.
b. Community Development Programmes:
We have commenced this programme with a view of giving a push in
the development works in order that poor are benefited. 5 centres
in Hoshangabad district are having this programme keeping in view
of making the women/men/youth groups stronger in their own
respective villages. To build communities with mutual sharing and
cooperation through the use of local resources for
self-sustainability.
c. Formation of self help groups:
Our main aim is to motivate the target groups to form groups for
their development in their future. Thus we have formed as many as
560 SHGs, meanwhile initiative has started the networking process
of the existing self help animation in the groups. Besides this
the initiatives are also undertaking into the field of savings.
These programmes are supported by Caritas India and Misereor/KZE
Germany.
d. Federation of Self Help Groups:
Federation is never a group of individual but a group of
groups. The members are having official capacities and come
together in-group membership. Federation is a need of the hour
because it can meet the bigger needs and problems that groups are
unable to address.
Federation and networking of organized groups to become super
regional structures in order to gain influence on political
decisions. These programmes are supported by Caritas India and
Misereor /KZE Germany
e. Women Empowerment programme:
Today the women are facing lot of problems in the society such
as women atrocity, female illiteracy, low health status and
proxy/low women representatives in Gram Sabha. To tackle the above
the problems, our target group will be the women of ST. SC, OBC
Community. The primary objective is to organize women to form SHGs
to build a base for sound economic empowerment followed by social
and political empowerment. The supportive agency is PACS-DFID/UK.
f. Child Focused Community Development Programme:
Child focused community Development is a development approach
in which children, their families and their communities
participate and take ownership of the entire development process
that affects children. It enables them to understand that, they
have the capacities to work together on common issues. Issues when
tackled for the greater good would bring their full human
potential. This programme is divided into 4 key sectors to address
the issues

Health & Nutrition
Livelihood programmes
Building community organisations
